Engineering Manager
This hands-on position encompasses management of ongoing Engineering projects and staff at a high level along with direct involvement and development of key technology areas. The ideal candidate will posses strong Engineering skills along with the ability and desire to generate innovative ideas for new products, features and applications, successfully deliver Engineering projects on time and on budget, manage and motivate a multi-discipline Engineering staff and interface with Sr. Management, Marketing, Sales and end customers at the highest level.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Management of Engineering department functions and contract engineering resources.
- Responsible for the technical content and timely completion of development projects for both new products and existing product enhancements including cost and schedule targets.
- Assessment and implementation of department training and staffing requirements.
- Assigns and oversees product validation and final test for both prototype and released products.
- Responsible for obtaining product approvals such as CE/UL/CSA/ATEX for both ordinary and hazardous location environments.
- Assigns and oversees development of complete product documentation and technical specifications.
- Establishes, documents, implements and maintains departmental operation and technical procedures and processes with the intent of standardizing designs and reducing product development time and costs.
- Assigns and oversees the definition and execution of department performance metrics.
- Coordinates and conducts design reviews, internal and with customers, where necessary.
- Stays abreast of industry technology and leads the management decision as to when to start using new approaches.
Education and Experience Required:
- BSEE or Bachelors degree in other engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years experience including direct experience managing product development teams.
- Experience in industrial sensor design, automation component design or related area desired.
- Excellent analytical and circuit design skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in a variety of manufacturing environments and ability to work closely with other operational disciplines
